About me
I am a painter living and working in Munich, Germany, making paintings mostly with
acrylic on canvas. I also like to make drawings, and hope that in these,
where I like to experiment with different papers and techniques
including, ink, pencil, pens, crayon, collage, etc. you can also see and
feel my Japanese heritage.
In my work I am dealing mostly with
matters of perceiving and seeing things. I hope to sharpen the senses of
the viewer by looking at my work for what surrounds him, particularly
the play of light and shadow, as only by hitting an object light gets
visible. This is especially interesting for me in objects that are
moving or reflect a great deal of the light, so that there is a lot of
contrast, like water, metal, glass, etc. And in trying to capture an
everyday maybe not so prominent or very fugitive moment throughout the
very, at least in my case, slow process of painting, I try to raise
awareness for that moment and make it either calming and centering
experience or one that conveys the thrill and excitement of being alive.
